A sewage installation (100) for a property located in a geographical area is provided The sewage installation (100) comprises a sludge separation arrangement (130) and an effluent aerating arrangement (150), which have both been selected and dimensioned to be optimized for the property based on: design rules for the geographical area, obtained from a design rule module (310) arranged to store design rules affecting the design of sewage installations for the geographical area; geological and hydrogeological information for the geographical area, obtained from a hydrogeologic module (320) arranged to store geological and hydrogeological information for the geographical area received from a number of predefined official geologic and hydrogeologic sources (390); and on-site observations for the property, obtained from an observation module (330) arranged to store on-site observations made on the property. Also provided is a system (300) and a method (800) for designing a sewage installation.
