NOVELTY - The method involves progressively subjecting the road surface to a pulsed laser beam. The wave length of the beam is chosen so that more energy is absorbed by the asphalt selectively (2) than by the grit (3) to remove the asphalt. The laser beam is projected from a moving lens system (1) at an angle with a process gas (5) directed from a nozzle (4) on to the road surface. USE - For road surfaces. ADVANTAGE - Achieves laminar removal of asphalt surface to expose grit and improves anti-skid property.
