EP 1860248 A2 UPAB: 20080111 NOVELTY - The unit (1) has a plate formed from an insulating material and/or from a reflector, where insulating characteristics, reflection characteristics and heat transfer coefficient of the unit are temporarily modifiable. The plate is movable over a surface of the unit between a position, in which the plate completely fills the surface of the unit, and another position, in which the plate releases the surface. A hollow space (4) extends over the surface, and is filled and/or emptied with a fluidic and/or hard insulating material particles (3) e.g. expanded polystyrene, and insulating material. USE - Used in a building e.g. residential building, office building and industrial building (all claimed), for inner and outer thermal and/or acoustic insulation of the building. ADVANTAGE - The insulating characteristics, reflection characteristics and heat transfer coefficient of the block-shaped insulating unit are temporarily modifiable, thus reducing the energy requirements such as cooling energy requirements of the building such as residential building.
