CAWAS: collision avoidance and warning system for automotives based on satellite
This paper presents a new system for collision avoidance for automotives based in GNSS signals information. This system is a step forward in active safety systems. The main purpose is to provide the driver adequate warnings messages in advance in order to avoid the possible collision. Several technologies are included in the system such as: GNSS, GIS, vehicles communication, sensorial fusion and artificial intelligence. A system demonstrator is developed in order to get a test bench for collision risk assessment algorithms evaluation. First results are presented.
