Interpretive Structural Modeling: A Tool for Analyzing Green Supply Chain Management Barriers In SMEs
Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) is drawing growing awareness to decrease the adverse environmental effects of industries worldwide. Nevertheless, in India, GSCM is still in its inception and has not widely penetrated the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), because of this, barriers hindering its adoption are studied using Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM). An exhaustive literature review has found a total of 55 barriers. From those top ten important barriers are shortlisted by deliberation with industry and academic experts. Finally, the ISM technique was used to interpret the contextual relationship. The study identifies that in SMEs, lack of consumer demand and societal pressures is the crucial barrier for any green initiative success, followed by weak legislation and less government support than by lack of top management responsibility of the industry.
