Preparation of water-dispersible and biocompatible iron oxide nanoparticles for MRI agent
Biocompatible nanocomposite of iron oxide with the bigger core size is expected to give the better MRI contrast. Waterdispersible superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONMPA) were prepared by covalent conjugation of SPION (7.5 nm) and mercaptopropionic acid (MPA) and then, transformed to biocompatible composite SPION-MPA-Dextran by physical adsorption of Dextran. Analysis of the composite is presented with TEM, SEM, DLS, and FT-IR data.
