GINA -GNSS for innovative road applications-: EGNOS / Galileo for road user charging and Value Added Services
Galileo / EGNOS can be key to reduce the negative mpact of road transport and offer new business opportunities, such as road pricing and other Value Added Services. The GSA/EC co-funded FP7 project GINA addresses the adoption of EGNOS/Galileo n the road sector considering technical feasibity on a arge scale, economc viabity and positive mpacts n aspects such as congestion and polution. The project everages on three main activities: analysis of the context for a nationwde GNSS-based road pricing (and AS) solution -giving emphasis to business aspects-, implementation of a nation-wde arge-scale demonstrator of GNSS-based road pricing (having the ABvM systems promoted by the Dutch Government as a reference) and VAS (complying wth requirements defined by real end-users) and a sold dissemnation strategy. This paper addresses the added-value of position ntegrity n these applcations and the setting up of a arge scale demonstrator n the Netherlands using EGNOS.
