Evaluating Different Types of Treatment for Osteoporosis Using Fuzzy PROMETHEE
Osteoporosis is a chronic and progressive bone disease accompanied by high bone fragility, which is primarily caused by menopause and aging. Osteoporosis is more common among Caucasian elderly women, however, it is becoming a global metabolic bone disease as the world's population ages with increased life span. Osteoporosis symptoms include low bone mass, bone degeneration, and disruption of bone micro-architecture, all of which can raise the likelihood of bone fragility and fissures. Osteoporosis divided two sorts: primary and secondary. The most commonly used type of osteoporosis is primary osteoporosis, which would be caused by the ageing process and decreased gonadal function and encompasses postmenopausal (type-1) and senile (type-2) osteoporosis. Secondary osteoporosis is a failure of bone mass to develop in the developing skeleton or loss of bone mass as a result of disease or damage. Because osteoporosis is not fully reversible, different forms of treatment are utilized to maintain it. Six different osteoporosis possible therapies were tested in this study. Hormone replacement therapy, hormones, bisphosphonates, fluoride, antibodies, and calcitonin are among the therapeutic approaches. The “fuzzy PROMETHEE” multi-criteria decision-making process was used to analyze treatment alternatives. According to the findings, bisphosphonates are among the mainstay of therapy, whereas hormone substitution therapy is indeed the least recommended.
