Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties of Fine-Grained Soil Sand in High-Terrace of Marine Deposits
As for mechanical properties, the deformation and strength of natural silty clay sand are different from these of normal sand. Taking fine-grained soil sand of high-terrace of marine deposit in the coastal area of Hainan as an object, we analyze the basic physical and mechanical properties of fine-grained soil sand by laboratory geotechnical tests and also explore the effect of different degrees of compaction on the deformation and strength of it in this paper. The results show that the coefficient of uniformity (Cu) of fine-grained soil sand of high-terrace of the marine deposit is high, and its coefficient of curvature (Cc) is between 1 and 3. Besides, its grading is good. Furthermore, indexes like compression modulus and shear strength of fine-grained soil sand will rise at varying degrees with the increase of compaction degree. So, the standard of compaction degree should be reasonably chosen in an engineering project. Mechanical analysis of natural silty clay sand with good grading and evaluation of its engineering parameters will have some reference significance for its application in similar engineering sites.
