An Analysis of Students’ Urban Mobility using Arequipa Smart Mobility Application
In the city of Arequipa, the term mobility has been addressed by different local government levels. As a result, many sustainable urban mobility plans are been developing. However, they lack a precise focus on how citizens move in the city because these mobility plans are supported by data that was collected using old traditional techniques, such as survey forms. In this research, we present a mobile application called Arequipa Smart Mobility, which was used to gather tracking data from a group of university students. The data was cleaned to obtain trajectories without noise and identify clusters that was analyzed in order to identify highly demanded urban spaces by students in the metropolitan area of the city of Arequipa. The results allow us to understand how students interact with public spaces from the point of view of urban mobility. In addition, we discuss these results to explain how the location of public spaces could influence student mobility patterns.
