Determining Urban Freight Facility Locations Using Post-Evaluation Deliberation
Rapid urban population growth in urban areas poses interesting challenges for freight transportation to balance economic activities and environment sustainability. To improve urban freight transportation, stakeholders explore alternatives by searching for carefully located freight facilities for storage, sorting and consolidation to reduce the number of freight vehicles used. We propose a tool to support the decision makers to choose suitable location for these facilities by re-examining a set of alternative solutions via post-evaluation deliberation using Genetic Algorithm (GA). Using this tool, we are able to provide good alternative solutions with the flexibility to tighten or loosen certain resources/constraints for a case study to determine urban consolidation center for urban retail clusters.
