The Elastic Model of a Pile Foundation Horizontal Displacement
Advanced research of the elastic model for pile-soil interaction has been studied widely at home and abroad. A method of using the elastic model to analyze the horizontal displacement of pile foundation is presented in this paper. Using the model to calculate horizontal displacement of pile foundation has the following advantages: the model is easily to combine with finite element software widely used in engineering such as ABAQUS. If reasonably selecting the model parameters, the resistance of each soil layer in the depth of the entire pile foundation, can be simulated, while the current Code method only use the weighted average of m value of each soil layer in a certain depth range under the ground as a equivalent m value of the soil on general pile foundation. Static engineering examples show that the method has high precision and simplifies the design of pile foundation.
