Concrete Block with Earth Filled Plastic Water Bottle
Green initiative is of prime importance in the present scenario, when different pollutants, garbage and waste materials are increasing day by day. Considering a green initiative and increasing utilization of waste material in construction industry, an experimental study is conducted to use empty plastic water bottle filled with local earth and embedding in concrete blocks during casting. It has many added advantages over traditional solid concrete blocks used in masonry. In this study, while casting the concrete blocks with earth filled plastic water bottles the sizes are taken as per recommendation of IS: 2185(Part 1) Hollow and Solid Concrete Blocks. The experimental results provide enough reason to replacing solid concrete blocks with these blocks. These blocks increases the thermal comfort inside the buildings as compared to normal concrete blocks and enhance the effective utilization of waste plastic bottles without processing and recycling. These blocks reduce the concrete quantity in each block.
