Inconsistencies in the problem of optimal signal control for surface street networks
This paper examines certain limitations and inconsistencies that are associated with the mathematical models used for the representation of the process in signalized surface street networks and in the corresponding problem of optimal signal control by investigating some representative examples that are found in the literature in conjunction to some fundamental findings from the optimal control theory.
