Fractional Order PI- Adaptive PI- Regular PI Based Master-Slave Control Scheme in Microgrids
Master-slave control is an effective control scheme used to operate the microgrid in both islanded and grid-connected modes. This operational scheme (master-slave) is very competitive to droop control for small microgrids and nanogrids, where all loads are connected to the same bus within the grid. Therefore, it is easy to precisely adjust the voltage at the point of common coupling (PCC) and meticulously inject the required power as well. This paper presents utilization of a robust fractional-order PI controller and its implementation in the master-slave scheme for the microgrid. This paper shows how the master inverter is operated to stabilize the voltage, and how the slave inverter is controlled to inject the loads' power using an effective scheme called direct power control (DPC) scheme. Both master and slave inverters are operated using fractional-order PI (FOPI). Simulation results show the performance of the suggested scheme in both operational modes.
