Development of a simplification methodology for the design of reinforced concrete buildings up to 10 stories
This article presents a simplification methodology for the design of reinforced concrete buildings up to 10 stories in Peru, addressing the lack of specific guidelines in the E.060 code. The methodology, based on national and international standards, includes restrictions and guidelines to ensure structural regularity, optimized cross-sectional shapes, and adequate seismic resistance. The analyses conducted show a reduction in design complexity and time while meeting safety standards, and comparisons with conventional designs reveal benefits in efficiency and costs. Moreover, the methodology is presented with practical examples and case studies, highlighting its usefulness as a validation tool for designers. This approach not only optimizes the design process but also promotes standardization and consistency in outcomes, enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of projects in Peru's construction market.
