Automotive sketch processing for reverse transformation into 3-D
This paper introduces a way to make automotive sketches ready for 2-D to 3-D reverse transformation. Three aspects of problems are discussed including the pre-processing of sketches outside computer, the processing of pre-processed sketches inside computer, and the extraction of features. Some of sketch processing algorithms are implemented using the MATLAB image processing toolbox. The work describe here is concerned with the production of a feasible routine, from the point of view of application, which is capable of dealing with the real world characteristics of automotive sketches. The combined algorithms, which are discussed in this chapter, have been found to be useful.
