Exploring New Frontiers in Concrete Compression Test with Augmented Reality
The compression test for concrete specimens measures the maximum compression resistance a concrete element can withstand in actual construction. For this, 21-day-old concrete samples were prepared and subjected to axial force using a universal testing machine until failure occurred. These failures are explosive and unexpected, happening in a short time, which allows for careful analysis of the material’s behavior. The tests were recorded using 2 video cameras and 1 thermography. The research aims to incorporate new technologies, such as augmented reality, into traditional lab tests, focusing on temperature variation and resistance. This approach allows for archiving the tests in augmented reality, enabling multiple views from different angles, slow-motion analysis, and image enlargement. This helps in understanding the material’s behavior at the exact moment of failure and could also include additional data like stress, deformation, and other future requirements.
