Forecasting solar energy in a complex urban environment Case study: Casablanca, Morocco
This study presents an assessment of photovoltaic potential in urban areas using "solar analyst tool" and a three-dimensional urban model derived from the photogrammetric restitution. The methodology was applied on Elhank, Racine and Bourgogne districts in Casablanca city. These selected urban areas consist of various urban zones characterized by different morphology and density factors. The analysis has shown a high photovoltaic potential and a height rate of suitable rooftop surface. However, this potential shows a large spatial and temporal variations caused by urban environments and seasons.
