A P2P based collaborative reverse engineering for rapid product development
This research is to explore an route of collaborative reverse engineering system for 3D digitization, 3D streaming, rapid CAD modelling, re-design, analysis, and CNC manufacturing of mechanical product with complex freeform surface on a P2P-based distributed collaborative product development environment in inter- or across- enterprise. This paper focuses on developing an integrated framework of JXTA-based P2P collaborative network infrastructure, hierarchical product information model, B-spline surface model reconstruction, and tool path generation based on Open CASCADE kernel. A experimental prototype has been developed and validates the efficaciousness of proposed P2P based collaborative reverse engineering solution to integrate applications and manufacturing resources, and enable geographically dispersed development teams and customers to work together concurrently and to communicate interactively among themselves on a specified activity.
