Smart COVID-19 Spread Control for Indoor Environments
This paper presents the design and implementation of a smart COVID-19 spread control for indoor environments, with a detailed design of the hardware components and the software architecture. Two sensors are used to measure the CO2 concentration level and the air quality in indoor environments and used those as a measure of the level of air contamination with viruses. Automatic ventilation and sanitization systems are designed to start when sensors readings show poor CO2 and/or poor air quality condition. Advanced microcontroller is used to link the sensors and the ventilation and sanitization system. The system validity is established by testing it in a classroom and a bedroom. Measured results have showed the ventilation and the sanitizing very effective in improving air quality and CO2 level.
