Energy Simulation and Analysis on Residential Buildings using BIM Tools
The way in designing buildings is very important for energy usage. Several structures lack energy efficiency in their design, which leads to increased energy usage resulting in higher energy costs. While developing buildings, architects and builders should propose energy-efficient designs as their first priority. With Building Information Modeling, the energy efficiency of a traditional structure may be assessed to see where it stands currently and to look at the possibilities for improvement. Accounting for components like the Heating Ventilation and Air Condition system, lights, and equipment, this research helps in determining the building’s energy usage and costs. Building Information Modeling allows for effective decision-making and design processes as well as a comprehensive and coordinated approach to energy analysis. It also provides helpful information on the structure’s energy effectiveness. The results of the energy analysis can be used to make decisions about retrofit and upgrade projects, improve building operations, and encourage the adoption of sustainable building practices. This research highlights energy analysis for a building resulted in 20.8 USD/m2/year for the consumed energy. By using energy optimization there is a scope to reduce this energy cost as per ASHRAE standards and the reduced cost of energy consumption is 8USD/m2/year.
