Enhanced wireless broadcasting systems employing network coding
This paper applies exclusive-OR coding to wireless broadcasting systems to increase spectrum efficiency. Due to the inexistence of feedback channel, the transmitter (e.g. DSRC rode side unit) proactively encodes multiple packets into one and the receivers correspondingly recover the faulty packets. Implementing the exclusive-OR coding at physical layer, the proposed scheme is capable of recovering multiple packets. Numerical simulations show that the proposed scheme outperforms the conventional one about 5 dB in signal-to-noise ratio at a target bit error rate of 10−3 for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing systems.
