A Contemporary Study on Expansive Soil Subgrades By Using CBR Technique With Geotextiles
Filling materials and the sub grade process have a significant impact on the roadway surface’s performance. The building of a road on soil with a soft sub grade might have a substantial influence on the project’s schedule and cost. Sub grade robustness may also be described as CBR (California bearing ratio), which is the ratio of load test to standard load at specified penetration by the use of an appropriate plunger for that particular sub grade. The adaptable pavement design in India is mostly dependent on the CBR sub grade here in India. There are a number of ways to improve the subsoil of a highway’s soils. The stabilization methods are the most prevalent between them. In recent decades, geosynthetics have been used to stabilize soil soft sub grades. The purpose of this research is to detect an increase in CBR values mobilization resilience by performing sub grade soil CBR tests when geotextile reinforcement has been applied in a variety of sites. In addition, geotextiles and expansive-silty-clay-soil were used in this investigation. Furthermore, CBR tests have been carried out by retaining geotextile at several levels from the top of the CBR moulds to the bottom of the soils.
