A 3D shape blending based approach for product form design
A 3D shape blending based approach for product form design is addressed in this article. Different from traditional CAD tools, this method is not for design express but a tool can be used to stimulate designer's inspiration and assist in creative design of product shape. New shapes can be generated by blending two different product models into new ones automatically and by doing further treatment of the new models. For the realization of the method, a new 3D shape blending algorithm based on triangular decomposition is proposed, and the key work of the algorithm is described. Two examples are enumerated to verify the feasibility of the approach finally.
