Seismic Responses Analysis of PHC Pile Under Near-fault Pulse-like Ground Motions
To investigate the seismic performance of prestressed high-strength concrete pipe pile (PHC pile) under the effect of near-fault pulse-like ground motions, a three-dimensional dynamic nonlinear finite element model of PHC pile embedded in soft soil foundation is constructed for the dynamic time history analysis. Three different near-fault pulse-like ground motions selected from the NGA-West2 database were input into the PHC pile model. The time histories of acceleration, shear force and bending moment of the PHC pile under different ground motions are presented in present study to illustrate the effect of different ground motions on the seismic responses of PHC pile. The results indicate that the record-to-record variability of seismic ground motions has great effect on the seismic responses of pile and it is necessary to resort to the probabilistic methods to consider the effect of randomness of ground motion on the seismic performance of PHC piles.
