Implementation of ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System in First-Class Construction Contractors – Case of Jordan
This study identified the need for utilizing ISO 9001:2015 as a quality management system (QMS) in the Jordanian first-class construction companies registered with the "Jordanian Construction Contractors Association" (JCCA). The study addressed motivation, obstacles, and benefits to improve their implementation framework. A questionnaire was distributed to all the 125 registered first-class construction companies returning eighty responses (64%). Analysis revealed that the benefits of implementing a QMS were documentation improvement, achieved customer satisfaction, and time reduction. The motivation to use ISO 9001:2015 as QMS were pressures from competitors and quality image improvement. The obstacles were the lack of strong management involvement and lack of a well design reward system. Implementing such a system requires high involvement from top management, developers, staff, project managers, and high communication between staff in projects and main office.
