Anlässlich der Eröffnung der Architekturbiennale diskutieren die Architekten Arno Brandlhuber und Christian Kerez ihre Biennale-Beiträge mit dem Philosophen Armen Avanessian, der Fotografin Erica Overmeer und dem Regisseur Christopher Roth. Das Gespräch wird von Sandra Oehy, Kuratorin des Schweizer Pavillons, und Anh-Linh Ngo, ARCH+, moderiert. Hintergrund des Gesprächs sind zwei zur Architekturbiennale erscheinende ARCH+ Ausgaben, die aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven Fragen nach den Einflussmöglichkeiten und der Autonomie der Architektur aufwerfen: Legislating Architecture, entstanden in Zusammenarbeit mit Arno Brandlhuber und Tobias Hönig, untersucht die Gestaltungskraft von Gesetzen und stellt umgekehrt die Frage: Kann der Bereich der „Prä-Architektur“ als Gestaltungsaufgabe wahrgenommen werden? Ein Bericht von der legislativen Front der Architektur. Release Architecture, eine Kooperation mit Christian Kerez und Sandra Oehy, hat seinen Ausgangspunkt in dem räumlichen Eingriff im Schweizer Pavillon: Können wir die Grenzen des architektonischen Raumes neu definieren? Ein Bericht von der spekulativen Front der Architektur. Das Print-Feature Nr. 50 in Legislating Architecture wurde von der Fotografin Erica Overmeer konzipiert und enthält ein Foto-Essay zu Brandlhuber+ Legislating Architecture. In der Publikation Release Architecture präsentiert das Feature Nr. 51 die Installation Incidental Space von Christian Kerez im Schweizer Pavillon. In conjunction with the opening of the Architecture Biennale, architects Arno Brandlhuber and Christian Kerez discussed their contributions to this year’s Biennale with philosopher Armen Avanessian, photographer Erica Overmeer, and film director Christopher Roth. The discussion was moderated by Sandra Oehy, curator of the Swiss Pavilion, and Anh-Linh Ngo, editor of ARCH+. Foregrounding this discussion are two issues that ARCH+ has prepared especially for the Architecture Biennale. They take different perspectives on the autonomy and agency of architecture: Legislating Architecture, a collaboration with Arno Brandlhuber and Tobias Hönig, investigates how law creates design, as well as the inverse: can design be applied to the pre-architectural realm?
