A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
S.T.H. 23, Fond du Lac, Sheboygan Road, Project I.D. 1442-0-00(Fond du Lac County), Project I.D. 1445-0-00(Sheboygan County, Wisconsin
The purpose of the project is to construct a complete or partial relocation of approximately 35 miles of State Trunk Highway 23 between the cities of Fond du Lac and Sheboygan. The improvement is necessary to correct deficiencies of the existing facility and reduce the high accident rate which exists. The proposed improvement is to be a four-lane divided highway on the section from County Trunk Highway S to Sheboygan. From Fond du Lac east to S, the route is to be constructed as a two-lane highway with the possibility of a short segment of four-lane divided highway should the improvement be located along the existing highway near the city of Fond du Lac. Land acquisition will be required, along with relocation of some homes and businesses. The amount of right of way required will be greater when construction is on new location, while the greatest number of relocations will occur where construction is along the existing facility.
