Optimisation of Tuned Liquid Column Dampers for Suppressing Structural Vibrations
This report presents a comprehensive analysis of the mechanism of a Tuned liquid column dampers (TLCD) - structure system through a numerical procedure. The optimum parameters for suppressing the structural vibration induced by a harmonic force as well as foundation movement excitations are graphically presented. The influence of various parameters on the damper performance is investigated. In order to enhance damper capacity, a type II original tuned liquid column damper (TCLD-II) is proposed. The results of this report show good prospect for practical application of tuned liquid column dampers in controlling tall building vibrations induced by environmental loads.
