Upper Thompson Sanitation District, Project No. C 080322. Volume I
The Upper Thompson Sanitation District is located near Estes Park, Colorado and is responsible for providing sewage treatment service to a major portion of the Big Thompson River drainage area above Olympus Dam. The proposed project would construct interceptor sewers in the major subdrainages of the Big Thompson River above Olympus Dam. The interceptors would transport sewage from residences presently using septic tanks, from several small package sewage treatment plants and from some present facilities in Rocky Mountain National Park. The interceptors would be sized to accommodate the ultimate population in the area as projected from present zoning regulations. The interceptors would transport the sewage to a proposed new tertiary sewage treatment plant to be located on publicly-owned land administered by the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation below Olympus Dam. The effluent from the proposed treatment plant would discharge to the Big Thompson River below Olympus Dam. Environmental impacts and adverse effects are discussed.
