Multi-Scale Models of the Diffusivity of Concrete
This paper shows progress on such a model for the prediction of concrete chloride diffusivity (electrical conductivity) from the mixture proportions and the expected degree of hydration, and the subsequent usage of the predicted diffusivity coefficients in predicting chloride ion ingress profiles and the expected service life of concrete exposed in a chloride laden environment. By explicitly considering the microstructure at all levels, the field performance of concrete can be predicted based on the underlying fundamental microstructure.
