A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
The report is a comprehensive study of the Nelson House, its furnishings, its occupants, grounds, and the events associated with it. It is hoped that the report will indicate additional directions for further research study in the fields of archeology and architecture, as well as stimulate interest in period furnishings and social life of the time, which would have been representative of the period of history exemplified by the subject of this study. It has been said that the Nelson House combines architectural and historical qualities that render it, next to the simpler Moore House, the most significant building in the Yorktown area of Colonial National Historical Park. The data contained in this report is to be used to interpret the history that transpired here and place it in proper perspective with other events occurring at that time at the local and national level of public life. Includes appendices, 34 illustrations, and bibliographical data. (Author)
