Proceedings of the Foundation Deformation Prediction Symposium Held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology on November 13-15, 1974. Volume 1. Symposium Summary
Reported are the Proceedings of the Foundation Deformation Prediction Symposium held at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, November 13-15, 1974. The purpose of the Symposium was to examine current design methodology for embankment loads placed on a soft soil foundation by comparing predicted and measured performance of a full scale field test. Predictions of pore pressures, deformations and stability of the soft foundation under additional embankment load were made by ten teams of geotechnical engineers. These predictions were made before the conduct of the actual field test and are described. The results of the field test which included loading to failure of the foundation are given.
