Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering, Regional Conference for Africa (7th): The Rational Design of Raft Foundations for Houses on Heaving Soil
Suggestions are made for the modification of the existing design methods of raft foundations as an interim measure to improve their rationality. The ultimate aim of a completely rational analysis based on soil-structure interaction is discussed, and the aspects at present precluding the successful and practical attainment of this goal are explored.
