A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Modern dental composites are designed with organic and inorganic phases. However, the significance between the nano-mechanical signatures of these constituent phases and the bulk fracture of these material systems are not well understood. The purpose of this study is twofold: (1) to characterize the organic and inorganic compositions, nano-mechanical properties, and structural features of various commercial composites using a novel statistical nanoindentation method, and (2) to understand the effect of filler-matrix signature on the macro-facture of modern dental composites.
