Flood of June 8-9, Upper Iowa River, Northeast Iowa
This report if part of an on-going program of preparing water-surface profiles of major floods on streams in Iowa. The program is in cooperation with the iowas Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) and the Iowa Highway Research Board (Research Board project HR-140). A list of other Iowa flood profile reports can be obtained by accessing http://ia.water.usgs. gvo/projects/profiles/. This report provides information about the thunder-storms, resulting flooding jun 8-9-, 2008,in the Upper Iowa River basin, and estimated flood-probability ranges atthe three continuous-record streamgages and tw0 crest-stage gages (CSG) in the basin. High-water marks (HWM) at selected sites along the upper Iowa River are presneted in a flood profile from State highway 26 near the mouth of the Upper Iowa River at the Missisiippi River to U.S. Highway 53 at Chester, Iowa, a distance of 124 river miles.
