Statistical Quality Control of Portland Cement Concrete Pavements
Three construction projects were studied, each built by a different contractor. The problem of quality control of Portland Cement Concrete pavements was divided into sampling, testing and control criteria for a specific pavement design. Sampling of aggregates began at the stockpiles and the follow up system produced an excessive amount of sampling which was expensive and did not necessarily lead to identification of variations in the product. The study disclosed a need to excerise more control at the system-operation level than in the material. (BPR author)
