A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Urban Transportation Decision Making: 2. Houston: A Case Study
The purpose of the report is to determine how transportation policy in an urban area is influenced by a variety of social, economic, geographic, and topographic variables, as well as the peculiarities of the political system of the area and especially the nature of the political systems of the state and the central city. The city of Houston, Texas, has been used as a case study. Explanations for the reliance of the local community on one type of transportation mode over another are sought in the study, with consideration given to the local business community, the city's newness, and the absence of topographic barriers.
