Nuisance From Road Construction: Studies at Oldham and Bracknell
Three surveys were carried out to evaluate the nuisance arising from road construction works: at Oldham where a new road was being constructed, and at two sites in Bracknell where roads were being widened and new service roads constructed. The extent to which people at varying distances were affected by the works was analyzed and particular sources of annoyance were identified. Noise and dust were important sources of nuisance to people living within 50 meters; the main complaint, however, was of 'general mess'.
