Radial Joints for Precast Segmental Tunnel Linings
Tests were carried out on two types of radial joint used with precast concrete tunnel-lining segments: concave-convex or knuckle joints; and flat-ended joints with deformable inserts. The main aim of the work was to study the design of segments capable of withstanding the build-up of load due to overburden pressure after assembly.
