Study of the Effects of Injected Chemical Soil Stabilizaers on Expansive Clays and Claystones
The objectives of this document are to: (1) select and sample subject clay soil(s) and claystone(s) for improvement; (2) determine the basic physical and chemical properties of both the subject soil(s) and claystone(s); (3) treat the subject materials with chemical agents, using simulated injections; (4) determine the changes to physical and chemical properties of the subject materials after treatment; (5) continue research into the use of a new device for measurement of clay soil suction as applied to determine improvements to behavior caused by treatments; (6) investigate ways to effectively monitor the improvements of clay soil shrinkage that occur as a result of chemical treatments; and (7) provide final project report to Hayward Baker.
