Many developing countries are just beginning to address urgent environmental issues. Well-targeted environmental policies and legislation are needed to address the environmental issues. The papers address seven topics as they relate to environmental assessment: priorities needed in the developing world; project planning at the regional, sectoral, and macroeconomic levels; international development agencies; water projects; case studies on environmental management; social policy and social impact assessment; and region-specific projects.
