Simulation of Rolling Loads on the Gepford Overhead Bridge Section
The report discusses the simulation of rolling loads on the deck of the Gepford Overhead Bridge section utilizing a time programmed series of servo-controlled actuators and parallel analytical studies of the dynamic response to moving loads at various speeds. A test method was developed to simulate fatigue type rolling loads for laboratory tests. A procedure to calibrate numerical models with the aid of experimental dynamic response data was established to study the response of bridge structures to moving loads inclusive of vehicle-structure interaction effects.
