Historic Structures Report: Fort Barry Buildings 960, 961, 962, Golden Gate National Recreation Area
With the establishment of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area on October 27, 1972, Fort Barry became part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The General Management Plan and Environmental Analysis calls for adaptive restoration of the structures. Since the structures were acquired by the National Park Service in 1974, they have been vacant, unmaintained and the subject of some vandalism.
