Fatigue Behavior of Metal Laminates
The main purpose of this investigation was to study the effects of the interfaces in metallic laminates upon fatigue crack propagation and fracture resistance in order to exploit any crack retardation effects and to enable the prevention of crack acceleration effects. This is the report of exploratory experimental studies of the behavior of AISI 1018 steel laminates and 6061-T6 structural aluminum alloy laminates using 1-inch thick ASTM compact specimens (1) for fatigue crack growth and fracture tests. This study is concerned with the fatigue damage tolerance and fracture resistance in bonded metal laminates.
