Fairmont Estates Land Acquisition and Development Project, City of Pasadena, Harris County, Texas
The action reports the provision of mortgage insurance for the acquisition and development for residential, commercial, and public purposes of 1,320 acres of land in the southern portion of the City of Pasadena under Title X of the National Housing Act (Public Law 73-479) as added by the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1965 (Public Law 89-117) and as amended. The overall environmental impact of the proposal is expected to be quite beneficial in that it would transform a large tract of land, from its present basic status as marginal grazing land into an overall comprehensively planned and developed urban environment providing for a wide range of living accommodations for approximately 17,500 people, extensive shopping facilities, and supportive public facilities such as parks and schools. The proposed development provides for the preservation as public open space of all or virtually all of the woodland currently existing on the site. HUD is not aware of any significant adverse environmental effects.
