A platform for research: civil engineering, architecture and urbanism
Concrete Technology
Significant reports covering the period since 1962 were selected for this study, with reference to relevant earlier works. Recent government R and D in concrete technology has generally proceeded along five lines: increased strength of portland cement concrete in routine production, shock reduction applications of lightweight vermiculite concrete, reduction of corrosion in reinforced concrete, studies of stresses and their relaxation in prestressed concrete, protection of concrete from water transmission by means of protective coatings, and improvement of shock resistance of cement mortar and asphalt-concrete by the addition of epoxy resins. This research should offer leads to new applications for stronger, more lightweight, more shock resistant, or less permeable concrete pavements and structures. (Author)
