In open building the needs of the user serve as points of departure for the development of building technology. The user is recognized as a subject instead of an object in the building process. Open building has gained a wide interest in Finland in recent years. This study is an account of the experience and results gained so far in the implementation of open building related projects in Finland. It is based on the assessment of recent experimental housing projects and examples of office buildings compiled by the authors.
