Groundwater Control in Tunneling. Volume 1: Groundwater Control Systems for Urban Tunneling
This volume is a summary of current practice on groundwater control systems used during construction of both cut-and-cover and bored tunnels in urban areas. Eight (8) groundwater control methods are discussed including dewatering, recharge, cutoff walls and trenches, grouting, freezing, compressed air, slurry and earth pressure balance shields and electro-osmosis. Method selection procedures, contractual and risk considerations and cost factors are also discussed.
